December 21, 1916<\/strong>: H. L. Berry<\/strong> of San Diego, California, had been killed by accidental discharge of pistol while engaged in cleaning the weapon.\u00a0He was a former citizen of DeFuniak Springs, having moved with his family to California something like three years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Undated<\/strong>: Last Thursday night a bridge across Shoal river, right above Crestview, collapsed with the result that Mrs. J. C. Owens<\/strong> and little daughter together, with part of the team, were drowned.\u00a0Mr. Owens who formerly lived in the Alaqua neighborhood was moving with his family to Okaloosa County and arrived at the bridge after nightfall unknowing that it had been condemned and was unsafe, hence the deplorable accident.\u00a0The body of Mrs. Owens was found days later about a mile down river.
