May 1917 Obituaries<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1917 May 3– Master Guy<\/strong> Davis<\/strong>, son of Mrs Annie<\/strong> McKinnon<\/strong> Davis<\/strong>, suffered a sad accident. The<\/p>\n

little boy was about 10 yrs of age and was play about the barn and found some dynamite cap and fuse<\/p>\n

and lit the fuse and blew off the first 3 fingers and half of thumb of his left hand and bruised<\/p>\n

his face.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1917 May 10– Mrs Robert<\/strong> Shine<\/strong>, formerly of this city but now living in Panama City died in Mont-<\/p>\n

gomery, Ala Monday May 6 and was buried at Opp, Ala Tuesday May 7.\u00a0 In addition to her<\/p>\n

mother and one sister, she leaves a husband and two little girls.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

May 1917– \u00a0 Mrs C E Morgan<\/strong> of Huntington W Va who wintered here died yesterday at her home in W Va.<\/p>\n

She left a host of friends here in DeFuniak Springs.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1917 May 17– Clarence<\/strong> Thompson<\/strong> was accidentally killed Sunday night, by being struck in the back<\/p>\n

of the head by Jasper<\/strong> Brown<\/strong> while the two were engaged in cutting a bee tree.\u00a0 In some manner<\/p>\n

Thompson got his head in the way of the axe Mr Brown was using.\u00a0 The axe penetrated the<\/p>\n

skull.\u00a0 Mr Thompson died four hours later leaving a wife and 3 small children.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1917 May 31– Austin<\/strong> Ames<\/strong> died last Monday. Dr & Mrs Ames left Monday night to attend the funeral<\/p>\n

of their son.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

May 1917–\u00a0 Mrs Sarah<\/strong> T McDonald<\/strong>, mother of our postmaster died at her home near Euchee Valley last<\/p>\n

Thursday and was laid to rest in Valley cemetery the following day.\u00a0 She was born in Holmes<\/p>\n

County May 10th<\/sup> 1833 and moved to Walton with her parents when a small child.\u00a0 She was<\/p>\n

married to Daniel<\/strong> P McDonald<\/strong> September 29th<\/sup> 1858.\u00a0 All her children, 5 sons & 3 daughters<\/p>\n

survive her.\u00a0 For 64 yrs was a faithful member of the Presbyterian church. Services in Valley<\/p>\n

church Friday.<\/p>\n
