August 1917 Obituaries<\/span><\/p>\n

1917 Aug 2– Mr Robert<\/strong> McCallum<\/strong> of Eucheeanna died at his home last Monday (July 30).\u00a0 He was a confederate<\/p>\n

veteran and leaves many relatives and friends to morn.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Joe<\/strong> Turner,<\/strong> who has been ill for some time, died on Monday, July 30 at Raborn & Kinsey Sanitarium.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1917 Aug 9– Coy<\/strong> Strickland<\/strong> who came to DeFuniak about a year ago from Bainbridge, Ga\u00a0 and had been employed at the Harbeson mill died yesterday (August 8\u00a0 ) from injuries received in accident the day before.\u00a0 The young man got one foot caught in conveyor last Tuesday and died of injuries the following day.<\/p>\n

FYI \u2013 A D Davis<\/strong> & Bettie Davis<\/strong> applied to adopt Ethel<\/strong> Hutchin<\/strong> a minor child 9 yrs of age,<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On July 9 1917.<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

William<\/strong> Skipper<\/strong> of Red Bay was accidentally shot and killed by William<\/strong> Hollis<\/strong>, an<\/p>\n

aged and infirm man who had taken the gun to kill a squirrel for Mrs Skipper, who was ill<\/p>\n

and wanted one.\u00a0\u00a0 Mr Hollis fell, discharging the gun killing Skipper.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1917 Aug 23– Andrew<\/strong> J Bolton<\/strong> died Monday night (August 20) at his home near Deerland and was buried<\/p>\n

yesterday at Dorcas.<\/p>\n
