The remains were brought<\/p>\n<p>to Miami where burial to place.\u00a0 While removing muffins from the gas oven, her apron caught<\/p>\n<p>in one of the burners and soon enveloped her in flames. Mr <strong>McCaskill<\/strong> who was home, was<\/p>\n<p>burnt pretty badly about the arms while trying to extinguish the flames. She was immediately<\/p>\n<p>taken to hospital but her suffering ended several hours later when she succumbed.\u00a0 Before<\/p>\n<p>her marriage she was Miss <strong>Myrtle<\/strong> <strong>Willard<\/strong> and was a DeLand resident, later the family<\/p>\n<p>moved to Miami.\u00a0 She leaves a mother father, 2 sisters, and a brother and husband.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1918 Feb 21&#8211; <strong>William<\/strong> E <strong>Douglass<\/strong> died last Thursday in Pittsburgh.\u00a0 Young man was attending King\u2019s<\/p>\n<p>School of Oratory and Expression. The body arrived here Sunday morning.\u00a0 His father left<\/p>\n<p>here to rush to his bedside having arrived some few hours before his death.\u00a0 Mr Douglas was a<\/p>\n<p>young man of 27 yrs, and for a number of years he was effected with defective speech and<\/p>\n<p>his course of 17 months in Dr King\u2019s school had done much toward curing him. He leaves a<\/p>\n<p>father, mother and sister Mrs <strong>Chas<\/strong> <strong>Morris<\/strong> of Laura, Miss.\u00a0 His uncle from Pensacola, Mr <strong>Rice<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<p>attended as did an aunt of the same place.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs J A <strong>McCall<\/strong> died last Friday night, February 15, 1918.\u00a0 She was a lady of 66 years, moving here from Alabama some 20 yrs ago and a mother of 12 children, 3 of which have preceded her in death, one boy and two girls.\u00a0 Survivors are Mrs <strong>Holmes<\/strong>, Mrs <strong>Danford<\/strong>; Mrs <strong>Marzoni<\/strong>; Mrs <strong>Green<\/strong>, Mrs <strong>Murray<\/strong>, Miss<strong> Gussie<\/strong>, <strong>Hugh<\/strong>, <strong>Sam<\/strong> &amp; \u201c<strong>Jeff<\/strong>\u201d McCall.\u00a0 Services were Saturday with interment in city cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs <strong>Marguarite<\/strong> <strong>Shugart<\/strong> died at her home on Saturday (February 16, 1918) and was laid to rest in city cemetery on Sunday.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mrs. Shugart came here f rom Nebraska some 20 yrs ago and since the death of her husband a few years past has lived a quiet life.\u00a0 She leaves a daughter, Mrs <strong>Zimmerman<\/strong> of Kilsey, Canada, a son <strong>Will<\/strong> C <strong>Shugart<\/strong> of Portland, Oregon, a sister Mrs <strong>Lucind<\/strong> <strong>Harris<\/strong> of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Contributed by Lois Danley and Sharon Watson<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1918 Feb 14&#8211; Mrs D D McCaskill died Saturday in Pensacola at her home.
