Mr Tallie Alford a resident of Gaskin approached Mr A B Green, the taxi man of Florala engaged him to convey him to his home, which is about 11 miles southeast of Florala.\u00a0 Alford invited a couple of friends to accompany him on the trip.\u00a0 Alford lived about a mile distant with his father, Marion Alford and Green proceeded to take him there, about one quarter of a mile the car turned off\u00a0 the road.\u00a0 Only Mr Green and Mr Alford know why.\u00a0 When Green was missed, Sheriff Bell went looking and found the body and arrested Alford after hearing the story.\u00a0 He caught up with Alford and Jack Holman sitting a ford car alongside of the highway. After doing some checking he found the body where it had lay for 3 days. Alford told Sheriff that Holman had murdered the man.\u00a0 The Sheriff said he would go get Holman and bring him in, Alford said no need, he had done the job himself.\u00a0\u00a0 The ground looked as if there might have been a struggle. The body showed that Green was shot in face and head from a distance, but second shot which struck the heart was from close range.\u00a0\u00a0 The jury found Tallie Alford guilty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>July 10, 1919: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jack Holman says he was not in car when Sheriff Bell arrested Alford. He was working with Jim Barker on the Raines farm southwest of town and this was substantiated by Mr Barker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">William Perdue, passed away July 3<sup>rd<\/sup>.\u00a0 Mr Perdue was born in Jefferson Co Georgia May 30 1836.\u00a0 In 1861 he was united in marriage to Mabala Crosbey, 8 children of this union, all of whom survive him with the exception of one, who died at the age of eight.\u00a0In company of his wife and family he moved to Walton co. in 1887.\u00a0 He served 3 yrs in Confederate Army.\u00a0 He is survived by his wife, 5 daughters the Mrs A I Steele; S B Brazile; A L Spencer, J T Atkinson and L F Cochran; 2 sons T J &amp; W W Perdue.\u00a0 Funeral on Friday following which burial in DeFuniak cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MISC.
