1921 May 26– Mrs Mary<\/strong> J McLeod<\/strong> died Thursday May 19 1921 after months of suffering. Funeral services on Friday and burial was in the family plot at Defuniak Cemetery.\u00a0 Miss Mary<\/strong> Jeannette<\/strong> Anderson<\/strong> was born to Mr & Mrs John<\/strong> C Anderson<\/strong> on March 30, 1846.\u00a0 On Mar 2 1872 she was married to Wm<\/strong> B McLeod<\/strong> and there were 6 children; John<\/strong> W, Charles<\/strong> A, Norman<\/strong> L, Walter<\/strong> A, Sarah<\/strong> & Kate<\/strong> McLeod, all surviving and living in DeFuniak except Walter A of Mobile, AL.<\/p>\n

Claude<\/strong> Martin<\/strong>, saw filer at the Harbison Lumber Co was shot & killed last Sunday by Roy<\/strong> Holmes<\/strong>, engineer, on one of the company\u2019s log trains. One shot fired penetrated Martin\u2019s lungs and going through the wall of the house Martin in which he lived.\u00a0 Holmes was committed to jail until grand jury meets in September. (Long article) His body was shipped to Laurel, MS Monday. Martin leaves wife and one child, while Roy Holmes has a wife and 3 children.<\/p>\n

1921 May 5– John<\/strong> D Cameron<\/strong> was found dead in his bed at Hotel Walton yesterday (Wednesday). He was about 60 yrs of age and from New Orleans.\u00a0 A note found in his room said he felt he would not live much longer and requested an Allen<\/strong> Williamson<\/strong> of Olean, NY be notified. The body was shipped to Swift<\/strong> Falls<\/strong>, Canada<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
