John W <strong>Mathison<\/strong>, 66, died Thursday August 15 at his home.\u00a0 Funeral services<\/p>\n<p>were held Saturday with internment in Magnolia cemetery.\u00a0\u00a0 John W <strong>Mathison<\/strong> was born<\/p>\n<p>in Henry Co. Al on Jan 11 1869. He attended the Southern University at Greensboro, Ala<\/p>\n<p>where he also taught school.\u00a0 He was licensed to preach in 1892, joining the Alabama<\/p>\n<p>conference in 1894.\u00a0 Mr Mathison was untied in marriage in 1904 to Miss Maldra C<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dowling<\/strong>, who with five of the six children born of this union survive him. One daughter,<\/p>\n<p>The eldest, Lois dying some half-score yrs ago.\u00a0 Remaining relatives include brothers,<\/p>\n<p><strong>C. E &amp;\u00a0 J I Mathison, <\/strong>\u00a0sister, Mrs Mary <strong>Searcy<\/strong>, half-sister Mrs Lou <strong>Sowell<\/strong>, and a half-<\/p>\n<p>brother,\u00a0 <strong>A G Glover.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Contributed by Lois Danley and Sharon Watson<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1935 Aug 22 &#8211; Rev.
