{"id":1726,"date":"2012-07-30T18:53:43","date_gmt":"2012-07-31T00:53:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/waltoncountyheritage.org\/wp\/?p=1726"},"modified":"2012-07-30T18:53:43","modified_gmt":"2012-07-31T00:53:43","slug":"the-defuniak-herald-march-1942-obituaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/waltonpast2present.com\/wcgs\/2012\/07\/the-defuniak-herald-march-1942-obituaries\/","title":{"rendered":"The DeFuniak Herald &#8211; March 1942 &#8211; Obituaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>1942 Mar 19 &#8211; The Passing of A W <strong>Dannelley<\/strong> at his home Sunday came unexpectedly.\u00a0 &#8220;Wash&#8221; as<\/p>\n<p>he was know was a salesman of unusual ability.\u00a0 A native of Pike Co, Al he came to DeFuniak<\/p>\n<p>when a young boy and has since made this his home.\u00a0 Survivors are his wife, the former<\/p>\n<p>Flowers <strong>Underwood<\/strong> and a large number of relatives.\u00a0 Funeral services on Monday and intern-<\/p>\n<p>ment in Magnolia Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Louis V <strong>Laird<\/strong> died at his home at Glendale, Sunday March 16 after a short illness.\u00a0 Mr<\/p>\n<p>Laird was a native of Walton county and was well known. Funeral services were conducted<\/p>\n<p>At Gum Creek church Monday and internment was at Gum Creek Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The death of\u00a0 A C <strong>McSween<\/strong>, a former Walton Co resident occurred at his home in Gonzalez,<\/p>\n<p>Fla after a long illness. He was for years an employee of the L &amp; N Railroad.\u00a0 Services were<\/p>\n<p>held Monday in Pensacola and internment was at St Johns cemetery. Survivors include a<\/p>\n<p>brother\u00a0 J C <strong>McSween<\/strong> and 3 sisters Mrs Nannie <strong>Gillis<\/strong> of DeFuniak, Mrs E V <strong>Crawford<\/strong> and<\/p>\n<p>Miss Jeanette <strong>McSween<\/strong> of Ponce de Leon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>News of the death of Henry H <strong>Dreyer<\/strong>, a former resident of Defuniak has been received by<\/p>\n<p>W I Cawthon..\u00a0 A Card from Miss Ella <strong>Holowell<\/strong> stated that he had died suddenly several<\/p>\n<p>Days ago at Glendale Cal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I P <strong>Wooten&#8217;s<\/strong> death occurred in Pensacola at the home of his daughter, last Thursday and the<\/p>\n<p>body was brought here for burial in Magnolia cemetery.\u00a0 He was a clerk in the Post Office<\/p>\n<p>for several years and his wife&#8217;s death occurred many years ago. There are two children sur-<\/p>\n<p>viving a daughter and a son who is in the U S Navy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Amy <strong>McGee<\/strong> died at the home of her daughter Mrs J H <strong>Cook<\/strong> in Pensacola last week<\/p>\n<p>And burial was made at the old family cemetery at Westville, Fla. Survivors are son Arthur<\/p>\n<p>McGee and 2 daughters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr David <strong>McQuarrie<\/strong> passed away in St Petersburg, Fla place of business Thursday,<\/p>\n<p>March 19<sup>th<\/sup>.
