1943 September 30 – Lt Louis Hightower<\/strong>, son of Mr & Mrs ‘Cot’ Hightower<\/strong>, former residents of Free-<\/p>\n

port has been reported killed in action on the European battlefront.\u00a0 Mrs Hightower (Nettie<\/p>\n

Owens<\/strong>) was visiting relatives at Vernon when the message came telling of her son’s death.<\/p>\n

The two Hightower brothers and a sister, Miss Marilyn<\/strong> have spent many years in Hollywood and<\/p>\n

were well know in ”movie” circles.\u00a0 Lt Hightower played with Jeanette McDonald in the film<\/p>\n

“Firefly and Eleanor Powell in “Rosaline”.\u00a0 He was the model for Prince Charming in the picture<\/p>\n

Snow White. His sister Marilyn\u00a0 is now with the Ziegfield Follies in New York.<\/p>\n

Harold Judson McCaskill<\/strong> only son of Mr & Mrs R E L McCaskill<\/strong> died Thursday, September ??<\/p>\n

at Marianna Army Air Field hospital of injuries received in an automobile accident which<\/p>\n

occurred Wednesday near Grangerburg Ala.\u00a0 Mr McCaskill 47 yrs was born at Freeport, Fla<\/p>\n

and was a grandson of the late J J McCaskill, he married Sue D McConnell<\/strong>, and was a veteran<\/p>\n

of WWI.\u00a0 Survivors are his widow and 2 daughters Susanne<\/strong> & Angeline<\/strong>; his parents and 3<\/p>\n

sisters Mrs Arthur Paulson<\/strong>, Mrs Charles H Levey<\/strong> and Miss Evelyn McCaskill<\/strong>;\u00a0 Services were<\/p>\n

were Saturday and interment was at Magnolia.<\/p>\n

Lela Adklison<\/strong> a 17 year old girl was killed by a special train carrying troops Saturday night<\/p>\n

At Defuniak.\u00a0 She is survived by her mother and step-father.<\/p>\n
