{"id":1861,"date":"2013-05-03T19:59:27","date_gmt":"2013-05-04T01:59:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/waltoncountyheritage.org\/wp\/?p=1861"},"modified":"2013-05-03T19:59:27","modified_gmt":"2013-05-04T01:59:27","slug":"the-defuniak-herald-october-24-1946-obituary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/waltonpast2present.com\/wcgs\/2013\/05\/the-defuniak-herald-october-24-1946-obituary\/","title":{"rendered":"The Defuniak Herald &#8211; October 24, 1946 Obituary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>1946 Oct 24<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sgt <b>Charles<\/b> <b>Moler<\/b>, Jr was killed in a motor accident on Oct 13 at Fort Bragg, NC.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;C L&#8217; as he was know having lived here from 1936 to 1941.\u00a0 He attended Walton High<\/p>\n<p>School.\u00a0 C L saw action as a paratrooper with the 11<sup>th<\/sup> Airborne Division on the Leyte,<\/p>\n<p>Negros &amp; Pansy Islands of the Southern Philippines during the late war.\u00a0 He was the<\/p>\n<p>Holder of the Asiatic Pacific theatre ribbon, Philippines Liberation ribbon, with two<\/p>\n<p>Bronze stars, the American Defense ribbon, Good Conduct metal, Infantryman&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p>Badge and the Purple Heart.\u00a0 He returned to the US in the regular Army and reenlisted<\/p>\n<p>abt the time of the accident.\u00a0 Funeral services for Sgt Moler were held at the Berra<\/p>\n<p>Baptist Church in Jacksonville on Friday Oct 18 1946.
