W. <strong>Thorpe<\/strong> was the first woman in Walton county to register for voting under the constitutional amendment which gave woman the power to vote. Mrs. R. <strong>Buchanan<\/strong>, Mrs. J. C. <strong>Prescott<\/strong>, Mrs. H. <strong>Thornber<\/strong>, Mrs. Anna <strong>Vinson<\/strong> and Mrs. Geo. <strong>Ward<\/strong> followed in that order, and Miss Bessie <strong>Tervin<\/strong> was the first single lady to register.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mrs. E.
