{"id":237,"date":"2009-12-17T14:51:30","date_gmt":"2009-12-17T20:51:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/waltoncountyheritage.org\/wp\/?p=237"},"modified":"2024-05-28T14:40:41","modified_gmt":"2024-05-28T19:40:41","slug":"the-breeze-october-13-1910","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/waltonpast2present.com\/wcgs\/2009\/12\/the-breeze-october-13-1910\/","title":{"rendered":"The Breeze &#8211; October 13, 1910 &#8211; Page 4"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last Monday night the body of Mr. [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/86778441\/flavius-m-hoyt\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/86778441\/flavius-m-hoyt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Flavius] M. <strong>Hoyt<\/strong><\/a>, one of the best and well thought of citizens of DeFuniak was brought here for interment, the funeral taking place Tuesday evening at 3:30 and the body being laid to rest in the City cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. <strong>Hoyt<\/strong> left here some time ago for Thayer, Mo., for treatment and at which place he died. Some years ago he was badly bruised in a mill wreck and had never fully recovered and which in his older day told on him. Mr. <strong>Hoyt<\/strong> bore the reputation at one time as being the strongest man in town and who followed the pursuit of a carpenter. His death will be a loss to our community and his many friends who read this account of it will be greatly grieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. and Mrs. [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/92241731\/lora-ellen-hoyt\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/92241731\/lora-ellen-hoyt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lora Ellen Newcomb] <strong>Hoyt<\/strong><\/a> came here about thirty years ago from Michigan and since that time have been among DeFuniak&#8217;s most highly respected citizens. He was 59 years old at the time of his death and leaves a wife to mourn his loss but was childless. Those who were called here to attend the funeral were Misses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/55102612\/mary_louisa_newcomb\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/55102612\/mary_louisa_newcomb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mary <strong>Newcomb<\/strong><\/a> and [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/80467905\/hannah_adelia_robison\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/80467905\/hannah_adelia_robison\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hannah] <strong>Robinson<\/strong><\/a> both of whom were his wife&#8217;s sisters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A large crowd of friends attended the funeral and followed the body to its last resting place to pay their last honor to the one they all loved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">THE BREEZE takes this means of expressing its sympathy in this hour of darkness to the bereaved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:13px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Contributed by Michael Strickland]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Monday night the body of Mr. [Flavius] M.
