{"id":295,"date":"2010-01-01T20:30:17","date_gmt":"2010-01-02T02:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/waltoncountyheritage.org\/wp\/?p=295"},"modified":"2024-05-28T16:53:56","modified_gmt":"2024-05-28T21:53:56","slug":"the-breeze-december-29-1910","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/waltonpast2present.com\/wcgs\/2010\/01\/the-breeze-december-29-1910\/","title":{"rendered":"The Breeze &#8211; December 29, 1910 &#8211; Page 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Little Son of Newt Martin Meets Horrible Death.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A four year old son [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/78488429\/curtis-monroe-martin\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/78488429\/curtis-monroe-martin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Curtis Monroe <strong>Martin<\/strong><\/a>] of Mr. and Mrs. [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/6050141\/robert_newt_martin\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/6050141\/robert_newt_martin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Robert] Newt <strong>Martin<\/strong><\/a> living near the planning mill was so terribly burned last Wednesday night that it died the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the best information obtainable it seems that Mrs. [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/6050146\/anna_martin\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/6050146\/anna_martin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anna Drake] <strong>Martin<\/strong><\/a> left the little fellow by the fire while she went outside to attend to some household duties, and returned to find his clothes blazing evidently having caught from a splinter with which he was playing in the fire. While the fire was immediately extinguished the child was so severely burned that it died the next afternoon and it was buried Friday Rev. Chester <strong>Sprague<\/strong> of the Christian church conducting the funeral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bereaved parents have our deepest sympathy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:13px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Contributed by Michael Strickland]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Little Son of Newt Martin Meets Horrible Death.
