
Jeb Stuart Gaston, Sr. (left) was born on March 18, 1881, in Reidville, South Carolina. Little is known about his early life except that he moved to Walton County sometime after 1900 and served as City Marshal of DeFuniak Springs in 1924. He married Mary Gillis Douglass of Argyle, and they had two children, Margaret Douglass Gaston Gates and Jeb Stuart Gaston, Jr.

Jeb Stuart Gaston, Jr. (right) was born in Walton County on August 31, 1920. He played on the Walton High School basketball team in 1937 (team photo). He enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 10, 1942, and was discharged after the end of World War II on November 26, 1945. He married Marjorie Ells Emakson on April 30, 1949. They lived in Denver, Colorado, for many years while he worked for the U.S. Geological Survey as a cartographer. Marjorie died in 1978, and Jeb married Ilene Joyce Schultz on May 2, 1987. He died on March 2, 1992, in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
