1917 Aug 2– Mr Robert McCallum of Eucheeanna died at his home last Monday (July 30). He was a confederate
veteran and leaves many relatives and friends to morn.
Joe Turner, who has been ill for some time, died on Monday, July 30 at Raborn & Kinsey Sanitarium.
1917 Aug 9– Coy Strickland who came to DeFuniak about a year ago from Bainbridge, Ga and had been employed at the Harbeson mill died yesterday (August 8 ) from injuries received in accident the day before. The young man got one foot caught in conveyor last Tuesday and died of injuries the following day.

On July 9 1917.
William Skipper of Red Bay was accidentally shot and killed by William Hollis, an
aged and infirm man who had taken the gun to kill a squirrel for Mrs Skipper, who was ill
and wanted one. Mr Hollis fell, discharging the gun killing Skipper.
1917 Aug 23– Andrew J Bolton died Monday night (August 20) at his home near Deerland and was buried
yesterday at Dorcas.
