October 1917 Obituaries
1917 Oct 25– The 12 year old son of Mr Joe Mullis, who lives in Soctt Mill neighborhood north of Argyle, committed suicide last Sunday, October 21, by hanging himself. It seems the boy had a small rifle and want to take it into the woods with him, which his father would not allow, it being the Sabbath. Whether this was cause is unknown and probably will never be known. The boy was found some hours later hanging from a tree near father’s horse lot. His neck was not broken but he died of strangulation.
Mrs S A Richardson died Tuesday, October 23. She was born in Marion Co, SC, on September 10,1833, the daughter of David & Sarah Alston Palmer. In early years she was married to A J Richardson, to which union was born 4 boys & 2 girls. At the conclusion of the Civil War she was in early 30’s, she found resting on her shoulders for her husband’s health had been shattered during service to his country. (Only survivor mentioned) daughter Miss Mollie who was a teacher at a girls’ school in Charleston, SC. (Long article written by her pastor)
