Mr Perry Cleveland Fannin 80 yrs, died Sunday at his home. He was a native and

lifelong resident of Walton Co.  Services held Thursday brom the Black Creek Methodist

church with interment in church cemetery.  Survivors 2 sons, William Guy & W C Fannin,

one dau, Mrs Annie Laura Rowles, one bro Dave Fannin and one sis, Mrs Rhonda Evans,

20 gr and 1 gr gr.

 

Mrs Alma Padgett age 65, died Saturday in Niceville hospital. She was a native and

lifelong resident of Walton. Services Monday with interment in Mossy Head cemetery.

She is survived by husband, Glen Padgett, 2 bros, Clyde & Clayton Nichols, 4 sis, Mrs

Ethel Daughtery, Mrs Lucy Gandel, Mrs Myrtice Owen, and Mrs Ida Hutcheson;

one gr and 3 gr gr.

The DeFuniak Herald – October 7, 1965 Obituaries

Mrs Boncile Langley age 44, died Monday.  She was native of Kinston, Ala and

has been a resident of walton for past 32 years.  Survivors include her widower,

Clarence M Langley, her parents Mr & Mrs D D Jackson, dau Miss Wanda Langley,

3 sons Bob M, Jerry Dan, & Donald Levi; 4 bros, Glover, Thermon, Roland &

Harold Jackson; 2 sis Mrs Anna Clyde Bowden & Mrs Gladys Adkinson and 4

gr children.  Services on Thursday with burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

 

Mr Rudolph J Wahl age 84, died Monday in Miami.  He was a native of Pensacola and

had resided in Freeport for 13 yrs.  Survivors include his widow, Mrs Idel Wahl, one

dau Mrs Dorothy Johnson, 2 sons Earl & Wilmer H Wahl, one sis, Mrs Clara

Estelle Jones.  Services on Friday with burial in Hatcher Cemetery.

 

S-Sgt Reginald Allison Spence, son of Mr & Mrs T E Spence of DeF, died in Walter

Reed hospital, Washington D C on Sep 27th.  He is survived by his wife, Vickie, 2 sons,

Ricky & Michael and 1 dau Yvonne.  Services were held at Ft Myers Chapel Thursday,

Sep 30, with interment in Arlington National Cemetery.

Mrs Betty Ward Padgett 31 yrs, was killed instantly when her automobile went out

of control on a hwy south of Mossy Head on Thursday Sept 23rd.   She was native and life-

long resident of Walton. Services held Friday with interment in Cluster Springs Cemetery.

She is survived by 3 sons; Alwyn, James & Richard Padgett, one dau, Miss Debra

Padgett; her father Mr Mano Ward and one sis Mrs Billie Easley.

Mr. Caesar Marzella, 75 yrs, died Thursday, Sep 16th.  A native of San Felicia, Circeo, Italy, Mr. Marzella resided in DeFuniak Springs since 1930, moving here from Chicago, Ill. Services on Saturday with interment in Magnolia. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Agostina Marzella and one son, Lawrence, and 2 grandchildren. Mrs. Laura M. Jones, 83 yrs, died Wednesday. Survivors are 4 sons, Murdock, Frank, Fred and Cecil Jones; 2 daughters, Mrs. Agatha Busbee & Mrs. Eloise Hullon; 2 sisters, Mrs. Lelia Brooks & Mrs. Aleta George; 2 brothers, John and Tom Parker, 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Services held Friday with burial in Clear Springs cemetery.

Mrs. Early Melina Balkom, age 73, died Monday Sep 20th.  She was a native of Pike County, Alabama. Services held Wednesday with interment in Magnolia Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Jefferson Balkom, 1 son, Clarence H. Balkom, 2 daughters, Mrs. Lois Holley and Mrs, Mavis Slay; 3 sisters, Mrs. Commella Weimorts, Mrs. Lena Scott and Mrs. Myrtle Ratley; one brother, Charlie Jackson; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A C Monroe Rooks, 58 died Saturday. He was a native of Bruce and was a lifelong resident of the Bruce-Freeport area. Survivors include his wife Mrs Ada Rooks, one dau Miss Sherry Rooks, his mother Mrs Alice Bozeman Rooks, 2 bro Frank & Robert Rooks; and one sister Mrs Verna Mae Bishop. Services Sunday with burial in Black Creek Cemetery.

Mrs Sarah Margaret Grice 85 yrs, died Wednesday Sep 15th at a family residence in Red Bay. Survivors include 3 sons, Bishop, Duncan & Johnny Grice, 1 sis Mrs Julie Anderson, 6 gr & 7 gr gr. Services on Friday with burial in Red Bay Cemetery.

Survivors are Mrs Nancy Felk Collinsworth, 1 son James Royce Collinsworth, mother Mrs

Hanna Collingsworth, 4 bros Clayton, J W, Enoch, and Ervin Collinsworth, one sis Mrs

Blanchie Wooten and one grandchild.  Services on Wednesday with burial in Gaskin

Cemetery.

James Dennis Nolin age 71 died Thursday.  He was native and lifelong resident of

Walton.  Services on Saturday with interment in Lime Springs Cemetery.  Survivors

are wife, Mrs Ethel Nolin, 2 sons, Melvin Curtis & Curtis Nolin; 2 dau Mrs Roy Anderson

and Mrs Donell Harrison; 4 bros J J, W L, P T & M G Nolin, 3 sis Mrs W C Ward, Mrs

W M Spann & Mrs F W Spann, and 10 grandchildren.

 

Mrs Mae Belle Rogers, a native of Wheeling W Va died Sunday in a Pensacola hospital.

She had resided here for past 3 yrs.  Services Tuesday with interment in Magnolia.  She

is survived by husband, Mr Ferrin Rogers, and 2 sis Mrs Pearly Feary & Mrs Zella Uncoy.

 

Mrs Macy Louise Garrett age 99, passed away Thursday Aug 26th at residence of her son,

Foster Garrett.  She was native of Coffee co, Al and had lived most of her life in Freeport.

Survivors 2 sons, Foster & Robert Garrett, 1 bro R D Gatlin, 2 sis Mrs Joanna Ward & Mrs

Bee Nelson, 12 grandchildren.  Services on Saturday with burial in Hatcher cemetery.

 

Mrs Frances Idelle Jone 82 yrs, of Liberty community died Sunday in Florala hospital.

A native of Pike Co Ala she had resided in Walton the majority of her life. Services

Tuesday with burial in Cluster Springs.  She is survived by her husband Mr Allen S

Jones, 4 sons, Howard, Claude, Herman & Albert Jones, 3 daus Mrs Pearl McGowan,

Mrs Edna Adams & Mrs Flora Liddell; 2 sis Mrs Laura Bell, & Mrs Lena Rushing,

24 gra, 32 gr gr and 4 gr gr grands.

 

 

Mr Ocie Olen Starnes age 73, died Thursday Aug 26th in Pensacola hospital.  He was a

native of Sallie, S C and had been a resident of DeF for the past 52 yrs.  Survivors are

his wife Mrs Beatie Starnes, 3 dau Mrs Erma Jean Spencer, Mrs Jetti Singletary and

Mrs Ethel Hamilton, 15 gr and 3 gr gr.  Services on Saturday with burial in Magnolia.

 

Mrs Colletta Lucille (Watson) Ellenberg died at Victoria Hospital in Miami Fl August

21 1965.  She was born at Freeport, June 28 1879 and was 86 years.  She was married

to James Edward Ellenberg of Greenwood SC who passed away in 1925.  She is survived

by 2 dau Mrs Lewis H Rogers & Mrs Edmond P Gilchrist, 2 bros William H Watson Sr

and John F Watson; 2 nephews Capt William H Watson Jr and James Baker Watson, 2

gr Frances & James Rogers.  Services held on Monday in Ponce De Leon.

Mr Charles F Bosenberg age 79, died Saturday.  He was a native of Cullman, Ala

and had resided in DeF since 1916.  Services were on Monday with interment in

Magnolia with Masonic graveside rites.  He is survied by 2 sons, Charles E and M Keith

Bosenbert, 4 dau Mrs Edith Henderson, Mrs Ethenell Adkinson, Mrs Mary Alice Hicks,

& Miss Ruthe Bosenberg; 3 bro Walter, William & Earnest Bosenberg; 2 sis Mrs Ida

Gilbreth and Mrs Clara Dinwiddle and 7 gr children.

 

James Wiley Rachels 81, of Glendale community died Sunday in a Pensacola hospital..

He was a native of Barbour Co, Al but had resided in Walton Co since 1936.  Services

were Tuesday with burial in Magnolia cemetery with Masonic rites.  Survivors are his

wife Mrs Maude Rachesl, 2 sons, Sam W & James Buford, 2 daus Mrs Jewel Wesley,

and Mrs Sarah Parramore and 6 grandchildren.

 

Annie Bell Miller 81 yrs, died Wednesday at home of her nephew, John Henry Cassidy.

A native of Westville she resided in Walton county for past 43 yrs. Services on Friday

from the Bruce Methodist church with interment followed in the Miller Cemetery.  She

is survived by one brother Herbert Morrison and several nieces and nephews.

lifelong resident of Walton.  Services on Saturday with interment in Euchee Valley Cem.

Mr Arthur Frank Gates, 83 died Friday Aug 13th in a Gadsden county hospital.

He has been a resident for past 46 years. Survivors include his widow Mrs Mary A

Gates, 2 sons Percy & Howard F Gates, 1 bro Enos Gates.  Services on Sunday

with burial in Magnolia.

 

Mr Lee Sanders Nelson 84, died Saturday Aug 14 at his residence. Survivors include

his widow, Mrs Alice Infinger Nelson, 4 daus Mrs Lori Curry, Mrs Oneita Redmond, Mrs

Aytie Cosson & Mrs Marie Rhodes, 4 sons, Kinsay Nelson, Ebin Dalton, Sidney, & J C

Nelson; 1 sis Mrs Martha Willingham; 1 bro Joe Nelson; 1 half sis Mrs Hattie Earley; 2

half bro Charle & Miles Gainey; 50 grandchildren, 9 gr gr. Services held Monday from

Pleasant Ridge Baptist church with burial in church cemetery.

 

Mr Fred C Shoemaker 78 died Thursday. He was native of Goes, Ohio and had been a

resident for pst 20 yrs.   Survivors include his widow, Mrs Gertrude Shoemaker, one

daughter Mrs Ellen S Wilson, one son George Shoemaker and one grandchild.

 

Mr William M Linton 64, of Alaqua passed away Friday.  He was a native and lifelong

resident of Walton. Survivors include his widow, Mrs Maggie Linton, 2 dau Mrs Blondell

Crowder and Mrs Dorothy Butts, one son Eddie Ray Linton; 4 bros Hughie, Henry,

Thermon and J W Linton; 5 sis Mrs Elizabeth Shaw, Mrs Linnia Garrett, Mrs Jincie

Smith, Mrs Helen Senterfitt and Mrs Odesa Mason.  Services on Sunday from Pleasant

Ridge Baptist Church with burial in church cemetery.

Russell K. Hagstrom, age 54, died Tuesday, July 27, at his residence. He was a native of Chicago Heights, Ill., and had been a resident of DeFuniak Springs for two years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Martha Hagstrom; one son, Kennethe X. Hagstrom; two brothers Raymond and Tom Hagstrom; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Meyer, Mrs. Marion Steege. (3rd sister’s name missing in original newspaper clipping). Mr. Hagstrom was returned to Chicago, Ill., for interment.

Rudolph R. Rogers died July 26. Mr. Rogers, a former resident of DeFuniak Springs; services today. Survivors [are] wife Ida Effie Stokes Rogers, one son John William Rogers, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Florence Howell, age 64, died Wednesday, July 28. Survivors [are] five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Garrett, Mrs. Lucile Johnson, Mrs. Luverne Howell, Mrs. Maxwell Infinger, and Mrs. Martha Joyce.

Mrs. Louise Jorgenson, age 53, died Friday, July 23, in Sycamore, Ill. She had been a resident there for the past 20 years. Survivors include husband, Harold Jorgenson; five sisters, Mrs. Lucy Mae Whoolery, Mrs. Anna Mary Reel, Mrs. Nellie A. Moll, Mrs. Bessie L Raybon, and Mrs. Clara E. Germanase; six brothers, James William Thompson, Frank J. Thompson, Harry H. Thompson, Fred J. Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Jr., and George R. Thompson. Graveside services Tuesday from the Thompson Cemetery.
