Mr George E Barton 59, a resident of DeFuniak Springs since 1947, died Wednesday Jul 21. He was

a native of Milton.  Services Sunday with interment in White Water Baptist Church

cemetery.  Survivors include his wife Mrs Zoray Barton, 2 dau Mrs Angelyn Infinger

and Miss Marcille Barton; 5 bro Ezra, Rufus, Dave, Tom & Hayes Barton; 3 sis

Mrs Annie Crews, Mrs Clydie Mae Mancil and Mrs Rosie Yancey.

 

Mrs Eunice Axford, ag 61 passed away July 20 in Sarasota where she had been resident

for past 7 yrs.  Survivors include 1 son Kenneth Hutchinson and one gr child.  Graveside

services Saturday Jul 24 from Magnolia cemetery.

 

Mr Charles Robert Keller, age 84, died Friday July 23.  He was a native of Tenn and had

been a resident here for the past 19 years.  Survivors include his widow, Mrs Dolly Keller,

one dau Mrs Lorene Kimmit; one bro John Keller, 3 sis Mrs Laura Ricker, Mrs Hessie

Hughes and Mrs Bertie Marshall and 8 gr ch.   Services held Monday  with burial in

Magnolia cemetery.

Alvy R Steele 62 yrs, died Saturday July 17 at local hospital.  He was a native of Jacksonburg, W Va and resided here for past 3 years. Survivors include his mother, Mrs Lillian Steele, one son, Joe Steele, 1 bro John M Steele.  Graveside services on Sunday in Magnolia cemetery.

George Coles of Miami died Jun 1st. He is survived by 2 sons, George L & Robert D

Coles. The Coles are former residents of this county.  Mrs Coles died about 2 yrs ago,

and both were buried in Trenton, Ala.  Mrs Coles was a sister of Mrs W I Briegel of

this place.

 

Mrs Zuripha M Ward, 66 died Tuesday July 18 in a Port St Joe hospital.  Mrs Ward

was native of Bellwood Ala and had lived in Pt St Joe for past 5 yrs. Survivors are

2 dau Mrs Mary F Knight and Mrs L O Adams; 1 son Thomas M Ward, 1 brother

Charles N McLean; 2 sisters Mrs Maude Bowen & Miss Minerva McLean; 12 gr ch;

4 gr grands.

 

Mr Walker Mitchem 81 yrs died Monday July 11 in local hospital. He was a native

and lifelong resident of Walton Co.  Survivors 2 dau Mrs H C Keel & Mrs J I

Bateman; 3 sons Clarence, Jay & Robert Mitchem; 3 bro Jessie, Chester, &

Jack Mitchem; 1 sis Mrs henry Scott; 10 gr and 16 gr gr.  Services held Tuesday

with burial in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs Betty Linton, age 84, of Red Bay passed away Thursday Jun 18th. She was a

native of Holmes Co and had resided in Walton co for the past 58 yrs. Survivors 1 son,

Ezra D Linton; 1 brother Dewey Gainey, 2 sisters Mrs Sally Griffin & Mrs Lee Flowler; 3 gr

and 1 gr gr.

Mrs Martha Strickland age 73, a native and lifelong resident of DeF died Wednesday [June 16, 1965]. Edwin E Bludworth, a druggist, aged 66, a former resident of DeFuniak Springs, died Jun 4th of a heart attack in Ft Pierce where he lived for past 30 yrs. He was son of the late W T & Lucy J Bludworth. The body of Hubert Pryor Hall 52, who died May 19th in Las Vegas was brought to DeFuniak for burial. Mr Hall was born Sep 3 1912 in DeFuniak Springs, and had lived in Temple, Texas for several years. Mr William George Wold, age 66, died Wednesday May 19th in local hospital. A native of Bristol, Tenn he resided in Walton since 1963, moving here from Chicago. Services held Saturday with burial in Cluster Springs Cemetery. Survivors include his widow, Mrs —– Woldfe, 2 dau Mrs Margaret Carter & Mrs Betty —-; and 17 gr children.

Herbert Lee Singletary age 63, died Saturday May 22nd at his home. A native of Ponce de Leon he resided here for past 30 yrs. Services on Sunday interment in Otter Creek Cemetery. Survivors, his wife Mrs Mary Singletary, 2 sons Lloyd & Clyde, 2 dau Mrs Evelyn Hart, & Mrs Junita Langford; 3 bro John, Luke & Walker Singletary; 1 sis Mrs Lecie Grant.

Joe Forest Browning 71 yrs, died Wednesday May 19th in Gadsden county hospital.  Mr Browning was native of Georgia. Survivors include 2 bro A J & Bill Browning. Services held thrusday from graveside in Hatcher Cemetery.

Mrs Mattie Bowers, 81 yrs died Monday May 17th in a Gadsden co hospital.  She was a native of Holmes Co and a resident of DeF more than 20 yrs. Survivors are 2 step dau; Mrs Tom Adkinson, & Mrs Howard Beardsley; 1 bro Jim Ammons; 2 sis Mrs Anna Helms & Mrs S H Shirley. Services on Wednesday with interment in Euchee Valley Cemetery.

Mrs Mable Frances Yon, 53, died Monday May 10th in Gadsden Co hospital. Survivors include her widower Mr John A Yon, one dau, Mrs Gloria Ruth Rethmeyer, 3 sons, Johnny Jr, Philip Ray & Joseph Wayne Yon; 2 sis Mrs Elanor Demers and Mrs Minnie Hummel; 6  bros Lee, Willie, David, Collon Woodrow & Clifton Brannon.
