WILSON/VEIT (page 1)

Mr. Amzie Wilson and Miss Annie Veit were married last night (February 8, 1911) in Louisville, Kentucky. We strongly suspected when Amzie left here that there was something of this kind brewing and are glad to extend congratulations. The bride is a close friend of Mrs. Frank Wilson.

WILLIAMS/TAPPAN (page 4)

A pretty home wedding was celebrated on Saturday (February 4, 1911) at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Tappan when their daughter, Grace, became the bride of Mr. Valerian Williams, a prosperous farmer of Madison County. Only the immediate relatives of the bride and a niece of the groom were present, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. D.B. Slaughter. The bridal couple left on the train on Sunday morning for their home in Madison.

Friends of the young folks, and that includes about everybody in this part of the world, received handsomely engraved invitations this week reading like this: “Mr. and Mrs. John Jett McCaskill will give in marriage their daughter, Gussie, to Mr. William Olin Campbell on the evening of Wednesday the 15th of February at 6 o’clock, Presbyterian Church, DeFuniak Springs, FL. WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT: Everett/McClure

A very pretty, but simple home wedding took place yesterday at high noon (January 15, 1911), when Miss Clara McClure, daughter of Mr. Alford E. McClure, was married to Mr. Theo Everett, both of this city (Jacksonville).

The impressive ceremony was performed by Mr. Ross Lynn, of the Springfield Presbyterian Church. The charming bride looked exceedingly attractive in a tailored suit of brown cloth, with hat and gloves to match, and carried a bride’s bouquet of white carnations. Her only jewels was a diamond pia worn by her mother on her wedding day.

After a wedding breakfast, the young couple left for an extended trip down the east coast. Mr. and Mrs. Everett, who are both very popular, have a host of friends who will be delighted to know that they will reside in Jacksonville. After February 1, they will be at home to their friends at 327 East 2nd St, a gift of the bride’s father — from the Jacksonville Metropolis, January 10.

The Breeze joins the many friends of Theo in best wishes.

R.W. Strickland has just returned from a business trip to Punta Gorda.

Pinders item: cotton fields are looking white. Cane, pinders, and potato crops are looking fine. (Note: “pinders” are peanuts.)

Rev. Catts item: The protracted meeting began at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church on Friday night. The Rev. S.J. Catts, an able minister, assisted the Rev. Daniel Andersin in the meeting. In addition to the church, 18 were baptized and 2 restored. Altogether, it was one of the best meetings we have ever had. We hope to have Brother Catts with us again.
