Miss Ruth Halimer gave a linen shower last Wednesday night to Miss Oliver Rogers at which a number of the friends of the dainty-bride-to-be presented her with many beautiful and useful presents. Dainty refreshments were a feature of the evening.

After a long and painful illness Mrs. Ada J. Burdick passed away Tuesday night at eight o’clock, and the funeral will be held at the Baptist church this morning at ten o’clock and the burial will be in the village cemetery.

To know this good woman was to honor and revere her, and a more suitable notice of her life will be published next week.

A transcript of the will of the late Wm. A. Carney, of Atmore, Ala., was filed for record in the probate court in Pensacola last week. The estate is valued at over a million dollars, and the executers had to give a bond of $700,000. There are four heirs, Mrs. Carney, Mrs. Kenneth Bruce, and her two sisters, Mrs. Henderson and Mrs. Peavy.

Carl Horton, of Compass Lake was accidently killed by an over dose of strychnine tablets last week. He had been taking them for heart trouble and took a too large dose.
