EVERETT-MCCLURE Wedding

A very pretty, but simple home wedding took place yesterday at high noon [January 15, 1911], when Miss Clara McClure, daughter of Mr. Alford E. McClure, was married to Mr. Theo Everett, both of this city (Jacksonville).

The impressive ceremony was performed by Mr. Ross Lynn, of the Springfield Presbyterian church. The charming bride looked exceedingly attractive in a tailored suit of brown cloth, with hat and gloves to match, and carried a bride’s bouquet of white carnations. Her only jewels was a diamond pia worne by her mother on her wedding day.

After a wedding breakfast the young couple left for an extended trip down the east coast. Mr. and Mrs. Everett, who are both very popular, have a host of friends who will be delighted to know that they will reside in Jacksonville. After February 1, they will be at home to their friends at 327 East Second street, a gift of the bride’s father.

– – from the Jacksonville Metropolis, Jan 10.

THE BREEZE joins the many friends of Theo in best wishes.

A telegram to relatives at Freeport Monday told of the death of J. B. Williams at Millville Sunday afternoon. Mr. Williams was here Saturday and while not in good health there was nothing to indicate that the end was so near. The deceased was for along time a resident of Freeport and moved to Millville some three years ago.

Among the most interesting visitors here during the Christmas time was Col. [William Josiah Dabney] Cawthon of Florala, better know all over this section as “Uncle Bullie.”

In spite of his 82 years he is still hale and hearty, and bids fair to reach the century mark, and he very properly ascribes his strength at an age when most of those who reach that number of years are decrepid to the fact that he has never used tobacco in any form and as for strong drink of any kind he is its sworn foe and ever ready to join in the fight against it.

He tells many interesting tales of the history of the county and of this town, and among other things he told us while here was that he dug with his own hands the first grave ever made here, [Chapelle] who died in the early days of the town.

His home is the Mecca for every one travelling that way and his reputation for hospitality is known everywhere. May he live to see many more Christmases, and one which is the wish of his life, when it shall be celebrated without a single drop of liquor.

Little Son of Newt Martin Meets Horrible Death.

A four year old son [Curtis Monroe Martin] of Mr. and Mrs. [Robert] Newt Martin living near the planning mill was so terribly burned last Wednesday night that it died the next day.

From the best information obtainable it seems that Mrs. [Anna Drake] Martin left the little fellow by the fire while she went outside to attend to some household duties, and returned to find his clothes blazing evidently having caught from a splinter with which he was playing in the fire. While the fire was immediately extinguished the child was so severely burned that it died the next afternoon and it was buried Friday Rev. Chester Sprague of the Christian church conducting the funeral.

The bereaved parents have our deepest sympathy.

J. M. Britton, of DeFuniak and Mrs. Agnes Harper, of Portland, were married at the Methodist Church in Portland Sunday evening at 7:30, December 4th.

Both the contracting parties have a large circle of friends who wish them every happiness. Mr. Britton is well known in DeFuniak and the surrounding section, while the bride who formerly lived in Pensacola, numbered her friends by her acquaintances.
