Ganer, Ala.

  • Charlie Howell & GA Vaughn attended church from Vanghville (sic)
  • Perry Corner made his usual trip to Darlington Sunday
  • Miss Cora Purvis & Miss Padgett visited Dr. Brown Sunday where a large crowd came for a singing
  • Mr Bullard & Miss Lee Sutton, of Darlington attended church here Sunday
  • “We were much surprised Sunday morning when we learned that Miss Charety Cook and Miss Menervia Commander had married.”

 

Road Meeting

Chas. Gordon, Kenneth McCaskill, H Thornber, JE Graves and others with automobiles met the road overseers and others at the depot and took them to the convict camp about 2 miles south of town. Hon J Ed Williams, Vice Pres. Of the State Good Roads Assoc. addressed the crowd about the value of good roads and the work being done in Escambia Co. RW Storrs and RG Christian, who is in charge of this road and those in Sumter Co., GA, spoke as well.

Demonstrations of road grading equipment and methods; facilities at the camp were viewed. Overseers were very interested and took home valuable and useful information.

  • Mr. McAllister, of the West Florida Grocery was here Tuesday on business
  • MV Buskin, of Pensacola, returned last Saturday night after spend several days here with friends
  • Dr Thompson will make improvements to his house on 11th street
  • Miss Amie Copeland leaves for Enterprise, Ala. For a short vacation with relatives and friends
  • Chas Crehore left for his home in Elyria, Ohio last Friday, Mrs. Corehore accompanying him as far as Pensacola for a day’s stay, returning here till May
  • HJ Brett bought interest 8n the New Home Turpentine Co. and will move his family here
  • John Watters of Apple Creek, Ohio, uncle of Mr. Storrs is here on visit, came to this office Monday where he met his old friend, Mr. Munn, who he had not seen in nearly 50 years
  • Dothan papers reported death of former DeFuniak resident, Jeff Walton – died there Sunday
  • Frank Richbourg and other candidates here Saturday
  • The Young Ladies’ Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church will hold a Tea at Mrs. Robt. McCaskill’s
  • HJ Henderson, of Gaskin was here politicking for seat on School Board Saturday
  • Miss Edna Meigs & Dr. SP Strong of Freeport wed. She is daughter of M/M SK Meigs and the wedding was held at their house. The couple left afterward for Freeport where they will make their home.
  • Prof. WE Bell was in town Saturday
  • Mrs. Mendheind and daughters, Cora & Irene, of Dothan, Mrs. Ed Nix and Mrs JT Seen of Troy are guests of JH Senn, this week
