FOXES CALLED SHARPIES (p. 1)
(NICEVILLE) Some Alabama fox hunters are in our vicinity this week. B. P., and J. A. Edge, and others have been out with them and they have captured seven of the sharpies.

THE POPULATION OF WALTON COUNTY (p. 2)
The following is the official report of the population of Walton county by precincts as given by the census of last year.

Limestone includes the population of Gaskin, the precincts not being divided until after the arrangements for taking the census were made.

SHORTEST DAY (p. 4)
Today (Dec 21) is the shortest day in the year according to the almanac. Next Tuesday (Dec 26, day after Christmas) will be the shortest day according to the pocketbook.

NEGRO KILLED AT LAUREL HILL (p. 4)
On Monday night, an unknown negro broke into E. A. Campbell’s house at Laurel Hill, and when Mr. Campbell’s son got a gun to drive him out the negro jerked the gun away from him and struck him with it. Mr. Campbell came home about this time and the negro ran away and was followed to a negro house near by where he tried to break in and was shot and died the next morning.
A large number of the negroes of that section saw him after he was shot but none of them knew him or had ever seen him before.
From his actions it is evident that he was either drunk or crazed with cocoaine, most likely the latter.

GRAVES BAPTIST ASSOCIATION MENTIONED (p. 5)
(LOCAL NOTES) The Breeze job office has the minutes of the Graves Baptist Association in hand and they will be rushed to completion.

AUTHORITY TO DISCHARGE FIREWORKS (p. 5)
Permission is hereby given to all parties to discharge fireworks within the corporate limits of the town of De Funiak Springs from six o’clock A. M., until ten o’clock P. J., on Monday, Dec. 25, A. D. 1911, due care being taken to prevent damage or danger to property and to prevent frightening animals.

DAVIS SCHOOL HOUSE MENTIONED
(PLEASANT HILL) Rev. S. G. Settles will preach at the Davis school house on the 3rd Sunday.

MOVING PICTURE MACHINE ORDERED
(PLEASANT HILL) Sam Arnett has ordered him a moving picture machine.

CATAMOUNT KILLED
(NICEVILLE) J. F. Edge killed a catamount Wednesday morning whcih measured four and a half feet in length.

SHERIFF JEFFRIES MAKES A STRIKE
(BRUCE) Deputy Sheriff Jeffries made a strike at Bruce on Sunday night, and took back with him to DeFuniak a man and woman wanted for alledged infractions of the moral law.

EBENEZER KNOWN AS GUM CREEK
Edler B. J. Wilson will preach at Ebenezer, known as the Gum Creek church, on the 5th Sunday in this month at 11 o’clock. All are cordially invited to hear him.

PONCE DE LEON POSTMASTER INSANE
A. G. Murphy, postmaster at Ponce de Leon, went insane last week, after it is reported a post office inspector checked him up over a thousand dollars short in his accounts with the department.

The death of Mrs. Jennie Edge, which occurred yesterday morning about 2 o’clock in Pensacola where she had gone some time ago for treatment was an unexpected shock to her many friends and relatives of this place. Earnest Edge, her son and Mrs. W. T. May, her stepdaughter left here for Crestview to meet the body which was brought here for burial yesterday. Mrs. Edge was a member of the Presbyterian Valley Church and her death will be a sad loss to all those who knew her. At the time we go to press no definite arrangements have been made for the funeral which will take place today.
