Mrs M S Pender died Thursday night [May 11, 1944] at the home of her daughter Mrs Charles King. A brief service was held Saturday [May 13, 1944] following which the body was taken to Greenwood the home of the deceased for burial. Mrs Pender who was 80 was a native of Georgia. Survivors are 5 daughters, Mrs Charles King, Mrs Harry McCaskill, Mrs L E Johnson, Mrs I D Burkett and Mrs L H Vivian.

M T W Cawthon, known as ”Uncle Buddie” died Monday night [May 22, 1944] at his home. Services were held Wednesday morning [May 24, 1944] with interment in Magnolia cemetery. He is survived by widow, 3 sons, 3 daughters, 6 brothers and 2 sister. Sons are Randall, Leslie & Lloyd, daughters are Mrs Pauline Annis, Mrs Ruby McCarthy & Mrs Gypsy Newberry; brothers are W L, Burruss, Frank, T Hope, Harley & Walter, Sister, Mrs Mary Lou Turner, another brother S A died several years ago.
