  • Still more of the residents on the east side are putting in phones
  • GB Smith, Mason Rushing, Leon Reeves were carpentering at Ponce de Leon last week
  • Ice cream supper to raise money to paint school house, held at Pleasant Valley Saturday night was well attended. Spekers: EH Miller, Dan Trotman, H Bludworth, AL Campbell, MP Rushing
  • Alwin Gillis was at home the first part of the week
  • Malcom Morrison visited WM Smith, Saturday night
  • John Ray, previously working in Drewry, Ala., is home again
  • Rev. Peacock spoke Thursday night at the Pleasant Valley school house
  • John Chamberlan visited last week
  • M/M JD Anderson and little nephew, Neil Emory Campbell of Eucheeanna spent Sunday with CA Campbell and sister, Mrs. Belle Brownell here
  • Rev. RQ Baker preached at Knox Hill Academy Friday night
  • AL Campbell was here campaigning Saturday afternoon
  • WH Elmer, Jr., who spent a few months in Lynn Haven, is spending summer here with M/M MP Elmer
  • John A Ray & John A Gillis attended closing exercise of Palmer College at DeFuniak
  • Miss Jeanette Campbell at Eucheeanna home, hosted party Thursday, attending were: Misses Kate Gillis, Laura Pouncy, Corrinnet, Ida and Sallie Ray, Mssrs. Oliver Pouncy, WC Gillis, John Ray.
  • Alvin & Angus Gillis, John & Dan Ray are fishing today
  • JA Hardy got sick at Mr. Gillis’ and could not complete the rest of his mail route on his motorcycle, Saturday
  • M/M Murray Elmer enjoyed new home-raised roasting ears for dinner Sunday
  • MP Rushing and family and Thelma Gillis attended singing at Beech Grove, Sunday

 

A Convict Killed

A Trustee at the Basin stole a suit of clothes and a pistol and led folks on a wild chase, ultimately taking a load of buckshot from Mr. Shuler. Mentioned in the article are: “little Joe Turner,” Capt. Reese, Stealie Preacher. As the Negro fired at Shuler, Justifiable Homicide was ruled in the shooting

Alex Goins, pleaded to manslaughter in 4 year-old case Thursday, and was sentenced to 4 years

$10 reward – TC Kenington, of Ponce De Leon,  offers reward for watch stolen from him 17 May 1912

  • Capt. JD Gray’s body was brought here from Gulfport, Miss. For burial in the village cemetery under auspices of local camp of Woodmen
  • Frank Bludworth, Jr. won first prize in essay contest on Electricity by National Electric Light Assoc. Prize will be trip to their meeting in Seattle
  • Leroy Tappan left early this week to build a brick dry kiln for the Graves Lumber Co., at Hosford
  • Dr. CB McKinnon gave reception Thursday for graduates of Palmer College

  • Walton Co. Abstract & Real Estate Co. offers house and 25 acres of land in DeFuniak Springs for sale
