March 1917 Obituaries

 

1917 Mar 22– Chas. M Wade of Westville, was shot and instantly killed by his son Clyde Wade in a

family row last Saturday night.   From the best information we can get, Charles was beating his

wife when the boy, Clyde was called by his younger brothers and a sister.  He shot his father

twice with pistol.  Young Wade then left and went to Ponce de Leon but later turned himself

in at Westville and was jailed in Bonifay.

 

1917 March 23– Alonzo Hollowell of Jacksonville died at St Luke’s hospital last Friday morning.  For some

12 yrs he was assistant postmaster of DeFuniak Springs.  Mr L P Campbell, formerly of this

city, now of Jacksonville arrived in the city with Lonnie’s body Sunday morning and in the

afternoon he was laid to rest beside his father.

 

Mrs J I Edwards of Glendale died at Sanitarium in DeFuniak Springs last Monday, the body

Being taken to Sandy Creek church for interment Tuesday. Survivor is husband and other

relatives.

 

1917 Mar 29– Mr & Mrs Bud Davis, about 80 yrs of age, residing in Okaloosa co, near Camp Walton were

brutally murdered Wednesday night Mar 21st.  The murder was similar in many respects to

the aged Wyman couple about a year ago.  Robbery is supposed to be the motive.
