October 1916

October 4, 1916: Mrs. A. F. Bullard died in Highsmith Hospital, this city Saturday from acute leukemia. Mrs. Bullard was before her marriage Euphie Autry, daughter of the late W. W. and Emeline Autry.  She was born October 18, 1884, near Steadman.  She was married July 8, 1908, to Mr. A. F. Bullard. She attended Southern Presbyterian College at Red Springs, now Flora MacDonald College.

Survivors include two children, Catherine Emeline, age 7, and A. F. Jr. age 13 months, another little girl, Sarah Brooks, died some two or three years ago. Funeral was held this afternoon at Stedman. (Daily Observer, Fayetteville, North Carolina)

October 26, 1916: James Bishop of Argyle died last Wednesday. He leaves a wife, four children and a brother, besides a host of friends.

Undated: Oscar R. Smith at Bonifay sometime during the night last night. Mr. Smith was a printer and newspaperman, one time being employed at the Breeze; he was also the founder of the Florala (Alabama) Democrat where he resided for over 10 years.
