Park Trammell has no known connection to Walton County but, in his “Address upon the Closing of His Administration and Retirement from Office as Governor of Florida” on January 2, 1917, he introduced incoming Governor and Walton County resident, Sidney J. Catts. Here follows the introduction:
It is now my pleasant privilege to turn to congratulate the honored and esteemed citizen who has been chosen by the sovereign will of the people of the State to succeed me as Governor. A high honor has been bestowed upon him. By his force of character, his marked ability, his advocacy of a number of principles which the people of this State believe to be right, he has won for himself the confidence and esteem of the citizens of Florida. I predict for this distinguished citizen four years of useful and noteworthy public service, and I gladly and cheerfully extend my hearty good wishes for the success of his administration. I pledge my co-operation and assistance in his every effort for protecting the interest and advancing the welfare of the people of Florida.
It is now my great pleasure to introduce to you our new Governor, the Honorable Sidney J. Catts, who as soon as he has taken the oath of office, will address you.
Governor Trammell had already been elected to the United States Senate, a position he held until his death in 1936.
