Willard Bonita Slacy’s parents received a letter which conveys the assumption that he must be considered among those who lost their lives when the ship USS Juneau was sunk in battle of Guadalcanal on 13 Nov 1942. Letter was dated 29 July 1943 to Mr Henry Cleveland Slacy.
Letter received by Mr H M Davis from Navy Officials states that Grady T Davis was Missing and presumed dead.
The sudden death of Mr John Carter occurred on Tuesday at his home in New Harmony. Funeral arrangements were not complete at press time.
Death of Rev. W T Ellisor beloved Methodist pastor came Tuesday at his home. He was born Apr 20 1867 at Pine Level Ala and was married to Miss Lovie Stewart April 8 1898 at Andalusia. Services will be held on Thursday (today).
Mrs Kate Davis Hightower passed away at Pensacola Hospital Sunday. Funeral services were held Monday at Methodist church, interment was at Steel church cemetery. Survivors include husband, Capt H Hightower, aunt Mrs Hardy Crawford and an uncle A L Spencer.
