Mrs. E. W. Thorpe was the first woman in Walton county to register for voting under the constitutional amendment which gave woman the power to vote. Mrs. R. Buchanan, Mrs. J. C. Prescott, Mrs. H. Thornber, Mrs. Anna Vinson and Mrs. Geo. Ward followed in that order, and Miss Bessie Tervin was the first single lady to register.

- Rev. D. F. Slaughter of Ozark, Ala., was in the city Monday shaking hands with old friends who are always glad to see his genial face.
- Mrs. Ceal and son, of Birmingham, Ala., who have been here visiting her sister, Mrs. Geo. Davis, left for Jacksonville last Sunday night.
- Mr. D. E. Richardson returned from Jacksonville last Friday where he had been to attend the Re Union.
- Mrs. J. C. Walden Sr. was over from Andalusia, Ala., the first of the week to visit home folks.

OBITUARIES
Mrs. Frank Buchanan passed away in Florala while on her way here from her home in Geneva. Her pregnancy was the reason for her death. She is buried in the village cemetery with her baby.
Mrs Catherine Bishop, the wife of James M Bishop of Argyle, born to M/M Wm. She was born on 15 December 1846. Married 26 March 1869; mother of 5. [Long obituary.]

STAPLETON-MORRELL (p. 1)
(BRUCE) On Sunday afternoon at six o’clock Mr. J. F. Stapleton of this place and Miss Clara Morrell, of Ebro, were quietly married at the residence of J. J. Ward, Mr. Ward officiating. After the wedding supper was served and the couple left for thehome which the groom had prepared. Ben McKinnie and J. A. Sutton, of Ebro, attended the wedding.

(ADDITIONAL LOCALS) Among the other items that were crowded out last week was the announcement of the marriage the Sunday previous of Mr. Alfred Buchanan and Miss Mabel Buck at the home of the bride’s parents at Camp Walton, the Rev. Mr. Stock officiating. We dare any one to wish these young friends of ours more joy than we do.
DUNVAR-STRONG (p. 4)
Mr. Dunvar and Miss Strong, of Caryville, came down on the mail train Tuesday night and returned on the accomodation as Mr. and Mrs. Dunbar. They did not know that their mission in town was known, and were very much surprised when they were liberally showered with rice as they boarded the train to return.

Miss Grace Tappan, the first assistant in the public school, has returned to her home, where so it is said she will be married next Saturday (tomorrow). Miss Mamie Buchanan of DeFuniak takes her place as teacher to finish out this term of school. — Laurel Hill News
